This seems to be an issue that comes up a lot, especially as your kids grow older.Now I don't know about you but my parents didn't leave me alone until I was about eight years old. Some parents think that is too young, while others are indifferent about it. Others might also prefer that their children are left with a nanny or babysitter because it guarantees more safety, and the parents don't have to worry about their kid(s) getting injured or setting the house on fire somehow.
It's funny because a lot of my friends were never left alone until they were in high school. As a matter of fact, I had to babysit three kids and one of the girls was going into her freshman year of high school, when you could clearly tell she was more than capable of taking care of herself. It all depends on the family, I guess.
What age would you leave your kids home alone? How old were you when your parents left you home alone?
I wasn't left alone until I was around 12, I think that's a good age. Anything past 16 is way too old though.

ReplyDelete17 is a little extreme I think (sorry annie...) but 8 is too young, but see! guess this blogger is right cus it is all opinion. idk when i was left home alone though
ReplyDeleteMy parents never left me alone... I always had a sitter as a kid, and now that I have children, I don't want to leave them alone either. well, not unless they're in college. I guess I'm one of those crazy overprotective moms LOL
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on the maturity level. Some kids are mature at a very young age. i think as long as your kid is no younger than ten and he/she is taught rules about staying home alone then you should be fine.
ReplyDeleteI was left alone when I was 4 years old and I remember being terrified so i don't leave my 3 kids alone at all. Maybe when they hit high school...
