Love and Cooking

Okay... so maybe Love and Cooking doesn't have the same zing as Love and Basketball (probably because it doesn't star Omar Epps) but it sure seems like a delicious activity for newlyweds.

Cooking classes are actually a wonderful way for a husband and wife to begin a happy life together. Personalized gift packages such as this "Cooking and Wine Tasting Classes" one provide a means for newly established couples to not only grow closer and enjoy each other's company, but also eat healthier. (After all, isn't good food and wine the best way to anyone's heart? ::wink wink::)

Would brides out there ever register for classes such as these? Which sorts of classes would you like to enroll in with your husband? Or would you prefer more concrete gifts such as cookware sets and dinnerware?

His Royal Majesty...

Potty training is sometimes treated as too commonplace of an experience. However, shouldn't the potty training process extend past going 'poopee' in a tiny, boring bowl? Shouldn't a child feel more excited? After all, a toddler leaves behind the security and convenience of a diaper, and ventures into the world of big, flushing toilets and high countered bathrooms.
Behold then, ladies and gentleman, "His Majesty's Throne 'Prince' Potty Trainer" by Levels of Discovery. True, it can come off a bit over the top but it sure is adorable! Potty training is a really special time for a toddler and what better way to encourage him than through some royal treatment!
Out of curiosity, how did you moms and dads go about easing your child into the potty training stage? Any funny stories or helpful tips?

The price may seem a bit much, but if you add up all the dollars spent on random cups of coffee you'd be surprised to learn that you're actually saving money (and time) this way.

Just hop on over MyRegistry.com to take a look at this and many other machines, as well as machines for tea.

How Old Were You When You Got Married?

There's always controversy over what age someone should get married.

In some religions or parts of the world, it is common to get married at a young age, while others feel that waiting until their early-mid 30's or even 40's is better. Nowadays, it's definitely more common to get married later on, but then again, there's still the stereotype that if you're not married by your 30's, something must be off or you're doomed if you want to have kids.
What do you think about this double standard? How old were you when you got married?

Engaged: How Long is Too Long?

Congratulations... now you're engaged!

There's a lot to plan--from the place and guest list to the honeymoon, etc... and of course, the duration of the engagement.

I know people who have been engaged from 3 months to 5 years. Some feel 3 months is too short and 5 years is way too long. A majority of couples are only engaged 1-2 years because they have so much planning to do and/or want to wait things out to make sure the person they are engaged to is really the one. Others want to get married right away (hence, the 3-month engagement) while others may be engaged for 3+ years because of financial or career circumstances.

How long were you engaged? In your opinion, how long is too long?

What Age Will You Teach Your Kids How to Cook?

Depending on the type of parents you have, they may have taught you how to cook at an early age. Or maybe your parents did not teach you how to cook at all and you had to learn on your own as a young adult.

Your background also plays a factor into it because in some cultures; for example, Italians, usually adopt the traditional old-fashioned notion that women should know how to cook at a young age because they are the homemakers to their husband and children. However, that idea has also diminished as the years pass, as well, depending on your parents' preference and whether or not they learned how to cook at a young age.

What age did you start learning how to cook? What age will you teach your children how to cook?

Vows: To Be or Not To Be Written?

Some couples like to write their vows for their wedding while others simply feel a poem or line from a book or song will suffice.

Did you write your own vows or did you recite an excerpt from somewhere else? If so, from where?

Easter is coming up in just a few days! For some, it's just an ordinary day, while for others it's a full-fledged celebration.

Now, I know that kids don't normally dress up in costumes unless it is Halloween. However, wouldn't your baby look cute bundled up in this Easter Bunny Costume? I certainly think so!

For $24.95 you can purchase this for your child or you can give this to someone else as a gift for their kid, too! Spice up your holiday with this cozy costume from MyRegistry.com.

Wedding Cake vs. Wedding Cupcakes?

A lot of people prefer to have the traditional wedding cake for their special day; however wedding cupcakes are starting to become popular.

After all, wouldn't it be easier to give everyone a cupcake instead of cutting a massive cake, which may lead to a big mess? Then again, the traditional act of cutting a cake as "one" sounds romantic... so why change the tradition to something so simple?

Would you prefer to have a wedding cake or wedding cupcakes? Do you think having wedding cupcakes will be the "traditional" thing in the future?
P.S. If you're looking for wedding cake toppers, MyRegistry.com has a great selection here!

Your Food Will Be Grillicious!

As MyRegistry.com's 'Pick of the Month,' this grill is perfect for the health conscious. This Next Generation Contact Grill is pretty much the same as the original George Forman grill; however, although it still has the incredible ability to make healthy and tasty grilled food within minutes, the plates are removable and dishwasher safe. Also, the patented slope and contemporary grill design keeps food above and away from grease, fat, and other excess liquids and the non-stick coating means no need for butter or oils.

Oh, and as a bonus, the grill also includes 2 drip trays to catch the fat, as well as a spatula.

If you're a big fan of the original George Forman grill, you'll definitely love this updated version. If you need a new one, you can always purchase this hot baby for $99.95 at MyRegistry.com or by clicking here.

Enjoy a new world of delicious food!

Why MyRegistry.com, Anyway?

With all this talk on topics ranging from parenting skills to when you should set your wedding date, it seems the idea of why MyRegistry.com even exists has been neglected.

It's not hard to agree that everyone loves getting presents; so why not make giving gifts as fun as receiving them? If fun doesn't include scanning porcelain dishes at Macy's, or braving the crowds at the mall to view your friends' registries, then fear not. At MyRegistry.com, you can register from any store (which means any kind of gift) in the world and create a master list your friends and family can all view. The list also makes it easy for them to purchase the things you really want. At MyRegistry.com, we take the guessing game out of gift giving.

So go on, get registry crazy!
